Type locality: North Sea off Scotland (57º3.9'N, 02º30.2'W) (Tillmann et al. 2009: 67). Holotype: June 2007; Marine plankton. Senkenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum, Centre of Excellence for Dinophyte Taxonomy, Germany SEM-stub (designation CEDiT 2008H1) (Tillmann et al. 2009: 67, 64). Notes: Isotypes: Formalin fixed sample (designation CEDiT 2008I2) deposited in same herbarium as holotype; formalin fixed sample (designation B 40 0040631) and SEM-stub (designation B 40 0040632) deposited at th Botanical Museum, Berlin.
