Type locality: Kota Kinabalu, (05º59'N, 116º04'E), Sabah, Malaysia, South China Sea; (Leaw et al. 2010: 164) Holotype: fig. 1 (obtained from strain CmSA01): (Leaw et al. 2010: 164) Notes: Strain CmSA01 deposited in the Microalgae Culture Collection of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
