Type locality: Middle Reef of Moss Beach, Monterey Co., California, USA; (Silva & al. 1996: 422) Holotype: L.E. Hair GMS 678 (Abbott 7379); 10 Dec 1966?; (Athanasiadis 1996: 74) Notes: Current location of TYPE unknown (perhaps in Hawai'i).
