Type locality: Klimpsmoorsheide Lunestedt, Lower Saxony, Germany (53º26'20.03" N, 8º46'47.58"); (Bock et al. 2011: 642) Holotype: fish pond; Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa, Oban , Scotland; cryopreserved material of strain CCAP 222/96 (Bock et al. 2011: 642) Notes: Isotype: B40 0040722 (air-dried and formaldehyde-fixed sample of strain CCAP 222/96), deposited at the Botanical Museum at Berlin-Dahlem.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective B (Latin), swampy, marshy (Stearn 1973).
