Holotype locality: inner reaches of the Nervion-Ibaizabal River estuary (43º20' N, 2º70' W), Basque Country, Northern Spain (Laza-Martinez 2012: 425). Holotype: herbarium BIO, Univ. of the Basque Country BIO-Algae4484 (resin block containing cells from strain Cr1EHU employed to prepare ultrathin sections) (Laza-Martinez 2012: 425). Notes: DNA sample: BIO-Algae4485. GenBank accession number: JN050857.
