Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Dasya is Dasya pedicellata (C.Agardh) C.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Heterosiphonia dubia (Suhr) Falkenberg.

Type Information
Type locality: "Falsa-Bai, auf Sertularien" [False Bay, Cape Town, South Africa on Sertularia]; (Suhr 1840: 280) Notes: Suhr (l.c.) indicated that this species was based on material from False Bay. Falkenberg, however, considered as the original material six packets of speciments from Algoa Bay, labeled Polysiphonia dubia in Suhr's hand and housed at Berlin (B).
