The type species (holotype) of the genus Neosiphonia is Neosiphonia flavimarina M.-S.Kim & I.K.Lee.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Melanothamnus peruviensis (D.E.Bustamante, B.Y.Won, M.E.Ramirez & T.O.Cho) Díaz-Tapia & Maggs.
