Type locality: Gulf of Naples, Italy; (Woelkerling 1998: 352) Holotype: collector not indicated; date not indicated; collection depth 30-80 m; TRH; B16-2435, includes slide 191 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 325) Notes: Holotype fragments: PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym). B16-2435 (Kaleb et al., 2011).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Plants have been found in intertidal reef pools and from low tide mark to a depth of at leat 15 m and occur attached to rock, holdfasts of the brown algae Ecklonia radiata (C. Agardh) J. Agardh and Phyllospora comosa (Labillardière) C. Agardh and glass (woelkerling & Harvey 1993: 591).
