This is a marine species.
Type locality: dwarf Red Mango forest along the Biscayne Bay coast, between Mowry and Military Canals, Southeast Florida, U.S.A. (25°28'24.3"N, 80°20'45.8"W) (Wachnicka & Gaiser 2007: 394). Holotype: growing on periphyton mats and artificial substrata. ANSP slide ANSP G.C 5804 (Wachnicka & Gaiser 2007: 394, fig. 7). Notes: Isotype: Slide CAS 222015.
