This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Seminavis lunulata (A.H.Wachnicka & E.E.Gaiser) C.H.Li, Y.H,Gao & C.P.Chen .
Type Information
Type locality: dwarf mangrove forest located between Mowry and Military canals east from L31E levee near Biscayne Bay, Florida, U.S.A. (25°28'24.3"N, 80°20'45.8"W); (Wachnicka & Gaiser 2007: 426) Holotype: in periphyton mats in dwarf mangrove forest; ANSP; slide ANSP G.C 5793 (Wachnicka & Gaiser 2007: 426, fig. 141) Notes: Isotype: Slide CAS 222004.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), ornamented with little crescents; crescent-shaped (Stearn 1973).
