This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gloeothece tepidariorum (A.Braun) Lagerheim.

N. 221; (Index Nominum Algarum) Neotype: originally isolated from a wall in a tropical greenhouse in the Botanical Garden in Liberec, Czech Republic; CBFS; A-104-1 (dried herbarium material of the reference strain, CCALA 1112) (Mares & al. 2019: 600) Notes: Hab. in muris humidis tepidariorum Berolini (Braun in Rabenhorst, 1865).
