The type species (lectotype) of the genus Rhodoglossum is Rhodoglossum lanceolatum (Harvey) J.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Mazzaella cobinae (E.Y.Dawson) Fredericq.

Type locality: El Cardon, south of Punto Maria, Baja California.; (Dawson 1961: 256) Holotype: E. Y. Dawson and D. Fork; April 14, 1946.; Intertidal rocky point at El Cardon; Herb. beaudette Foundation; (Dawson 1961: 256) Notes: Isotypes in Herb. A. Hancock Foundation, Herb. University of California, U.S. National Herb. and elsewhere. Holotype in LAM (Hommersand et al. 1993: 110).
