The type species (holotype) of the genus Cyclolithella is Cyclolithella inflexa (Deflandre) Loeblich & Tappan.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Neosphaera ferraziae (Sánchez-Suárez) Sánchez-Suárez & Díaz-Ramos.
