The type species (holotype) of the genus Neosiphonia is Neosiphonia flavimarina M.-S.Kim & I.K.Lee.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Melanothamnus silvae (D.E.Bustamante, B.Y.Won & T.O.Cho) Díaz-Tapia & Maggs.

Holotype locality: Geger, Nusadua, Bali, Indonesia (8º48'07"S, 115º14'31"E); (Bustamante, Won & Cho 2013: 518) Holotype: T.O.Cho & D.E. Bustamante; 16 April 2012; herbarium of CUK; CUK 7976 (Bustamante, Won & Cho 2013: 518, fig. 16) Notes: GenBank accession number of the rbcL sequences of the holotype: KF146878. Isotype: CUK 7976-1 deposited in the herbarium of CUK.
