The type species (holotype) of the genus Haliseris is Haliseris polypodioides (A.P.de Candolle) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dictyopteris repens (Okamura) Børgesen.

Type locality: Truk Islands, Caroline Islands; (Silva & al. 1996: 584) Notes: Type locality: Chuuk Islands, Caroline Islands (Skelton & South, 2004).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), creeping, prostrate and rooting (Stearn 1973).
