The type species (holotype) of the genus Surirella is Surirella striatula Turpin.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Iconella tortilis (Bramburger & P.B.Hamlilton) D.Kapustin & Kulikovskiy.

Adjective (Latin), twisted, winding, spiral (Smith & Lockwood 1933).
