The type species (holotype) of the genus Cyclotella is Cyclotella tecta Håkansson & R.Ross.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pantocsekiella paraocellata (A.Cvetkoska, P.B.Hamilton, N.Ognjanova-Rumenova & Z.Levkov) K.T.Kiss & E. Ács.
