TRH 453 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 453). Notes: Part of holotype of Lithothamnion fruticulosum var. aemulans Foslie & Howe; partly in NY.

Origin of species name
Participle B (Latin), rivalling, more or less equalling (Stearn 1973).
