The type species (holotype) of the genus Dermatolithon is Dermatolithon pustulatum (J.V.Lamouroux) Foslie.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithophyllum cystoseirae (Hauck) Heydrich.

Adjective (Latin), papillate, covered with papillae (Stearn 1973).
