This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Pleuropterum.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Alaria paradisea (Miyabe & Nagai) Widdowson.

Lectotype locality: Sekinezaki, Araito (Alaid) I.; (Widdowson 1971: 39) Lectotype: H. Ito and S. Kumori; August 1926; (Widdowson 1971: 39, fig. 18a) Notes: Northern Kuriles: Alaid: Minamiura (INA). Cape Lava (Japan, Sekinezaki), Atlasov Island, Greater Kurile Ridge ( Klimova et al., 2018).
