This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Hormophysa.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hormophysa cuneiformis (J.F.Gmelin) P.C.Silva

Type locality: India(?) (see Papenfuss 1967: 42). (Womersley 1987: 356).

Adjective (Latin), having three acute angles.
