Type locality: The Giant Cave ("Grotta Gigante" in Italian) located in the alpine area (Oriental Alps), in the municipality of Sgonico, Trieste, North-Eastern Italy (45°42'35,62"N, 13°45'52.33"E); (Sciuto et al. 2017: 319) Holotype: PAD; A000629 (resin-embedded sample of strain GR4) (Sciuto et al. 2017: 319) Notes: DNA sequences available: LT634149 (16S rRNA gene), LT634152 (16S-23S ITS region).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), coiled inward from the tip (Stearn 1973).
