This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pterothamnion pectinatum (Kylin) Athanasiadis & Kraft.

Type locality: Clarion Island, Mexico.; (Athanasiadis 1996: 61) Holotype: Taylor 34-43; 5 January 1934; MICH; sine numero (Athanasiadis 1996: 61) Notes: Type dredged in abundance at sta. 135 from 46 metres’ depth at Sulphur Bay , I Clarion (Taylor, 1945).
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), pectinate, with narrow close-set divisions like a comb (Stearn 1973).
