The type species (holotype) of the genus Tinocladia is Tinocladia crassa (Suringar) Kylin.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Eudesme sanrikuensis (H.Kawai, K.Takeuchi & T.Hanyuda) H.Kawai.
