Type locality: near the Isle of Marmara, Sea of Marmara, Turkey (Woelkerling 1998: 360). Lectotype: no collector; communicavit Andrussow; no date indicated; collection depth: 25 fathoms. TRH C16-3272, includes slides 1626 and 1626 (sic.); designated by Adey in Adey & Lebednik, 1967: 81 (Hankins & Hockey 1990: 457). Notes: Paralectotypes: PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym); L, 952.88-328; L, 910.181-560.
