This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithothamnion glaciale Kjellman.

Type locality: Berwick[-on-Tweed], England; (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 364) Notes: Syntype at TRH B20-2673 (Woelkering et al. 2005: 365).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), rose-coloured (Stearn 1973).
