Taxonomic notes
According to Silva et al. (1996) the name Sargassum acinaria has been misapplied to this species by various authors - please consult original reference for full listing. According to Noro et al., Fucus swartzii Turner 1819 is the basionym of Sargassum swartzii (Turner) C. Agardh 1820.
