Type locality: "Habitat in Mari Atlantico" (Atlantic Ocean) (Linnaeus 1753: 1158). Type: LINN 1274.48 (Spencer, Irvine & Jarvis 2009: 252).

Adjective (Latin), covered with little bladders or blisters (Stearn 1973).
