This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Endosiphonia.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Choreonema thuretii (Bornet) F.Schmitz

Type information
Lectotype locality: Pointe de Querqueville, France (Chamberlain & Irvine 1994: 34). Lectotype: E. Bornet; 31 December 1855; on Haliptilon squamatum. PC unnumbered, Thuret-Bornet Herbarium (algal fascicle 130, filed under Choreonema), includes one unnumbered slide; designated by Woelkerling, 1987: 113 (Chamberlain & Irvine 1994: 34). Notes: This type locality was first described by Woelkerling (1987a: 113). Extra information Woelkerling (1998: 381).
