Type locality: Fremantle, Western Australia; (Womersley & Lewis 1994: 185) Holotype: Harvey; TCD; Harvey Trav. set 174 (Womersley & Lewis 1994: 185) Notes: Slide in AD, A18513 (Womersley & Lewis 1994). Holotype: Herb. Harvey (TCD, no. 257); isotype of H. cliftoni (=H. kallymenioides Harvey) in MEl, no. 502377 (Scott et al. 1982).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
From 3 to 20 m depths, generally in areas of strong surge or current and often at the base of vertical walls or reef undercuts; occasionally scattered plants on open flats or in narrow channels and defiles (Scott et al. 1982: 247).
