Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Myriodesma is Myriodesma serrulatum (J.V.Lamouroux) Endlicher.

Type Information
Type locality: "Georgetown, W. H. H." [Tasmania]; (Harvey 1859: 286) Holotype: Harvey; Herb. Harvey, TCD; (Womersley 1987: 412) Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Nizamuddin & Womersley (1967: 377) for more information on the lectotype locality of this species. However, Harvey clearly says "HAB. Georgetown, 'W. H. H. DISTRIB. Geelong and Westem Port, Victoria." and "Harv. Alg. Exsicc n. 43" suggesting that the holotype is from Tasmania.

Adjective (Latin), with entire leaves.
