The type species (holotype) of the genus Zonaria is Zonaria flava C.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Rugulopteryx suhrii (Kützing) De Clerck & Coppejans.

Type locality: "Algoa-Bai" [Algoa Bay, Cape Province, South Africa]; (Suhr 1834: 723) Lectotype: S; sine numero (De Clerck 2003: 183) Notes: De Clerck (2003) notes that lectotypification was established by Papenfuss (annotation on the herbarium sheet).

Adjective (Latin), margined (Stearn 1973).
