Plants found in intertidal reef pools and subtidally to depths of 6 m on rock and on holdfasts of the brown alga Phyllospora comosa (Woelkerling & Harvey 1993: 594).
Blanket Bay, Otway National Park, Victoria, Australia (Womersley 1996: 204). Holotype: Campbell, Penrose & May; 14 November 1985; LTB 15249 (Womersley 1996: 204). Notes: Womersley (1996: 204) notes that the type is depicted in Woelkerling & Harvey (1993: 630, fig. 24A).
