The type species (lectotype) of the genus Mesophyllum is Mesophyllum lichenoides (J.Ellis) Me.Lemoine.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Printziana australis Athanasaidis.

General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Plants found in intertidal reef pools and subtidally to depths of 6 m on rock and on holdfasts of the brown alga Phyllospora comosa (Woelkerling & Harvey 1993: 594).
