The type species (lectotype) of the genus Cladophoropsis is Cladophoropsis membranacea (Bang ex C.Agardh) Børgesen.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Phyllodictyon robustum (Setchell & N.L.Gardner) Leliaert & Wysor.
