This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Polystrata compacta (Foslie) Denizot ex Athanasiadis.

Syntype localities: "... at present known from the following places: The Adriatic: Off Del Dente between Rovigno and Quieto in a depth of 15-23 meter (Dr. Kuckuck); the Mediterranean: The Gulf of Naples (Zoo!. Station) and the Gulf of Villefranche (Dr. Schleicher)."; (Foslie 1905: 214)
