Type locality: Koh Sarlak [=Sarlak Island], Siambugten [= Gulf of Siam, now the Gulf of Thailand], [Thailand] (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 354). Holotype: Schmidt; 16.iii.1900; no habitat data. TRH B18-2626 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 354).
Origin of species name
Participle B (Latin), imitating, resembling (Stearn 1973).
