General Environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Thalli erect, up to 6 cm high, with subdichotomous to irregularly branched complanate axes, 1-2 mm broad, dark green in colour. Thalli composed of longitudinally arranged interwoven medullary siphons, 13-30 µm in diameter, beset with peripheral appendages that consolidate to form a continuous cortex; appendages more or less perpendicular to the long axes of the thallus, 40-90 µm long, not constricted at the base, ending in a cluster of digitations, 7-12 mm wide at the tips. Apices rounded, not truncate. Chloroplasts and amyloplasts present. Reproductive structures unknown. (Womersley 1955, 1987; De Clerck et al. 2008).

Upper sublittoral.
