The type species (holotype) of the genus Audouinella is Audouinella miniata Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Colaconema dictyotae (Collins) I.-K.Hwang & H.-S.Kim.

Type locality: La Jolla, California; (Womersley 1994: 55) Holotype: FH; (Womersley 1994: 55) Notes: Womersley (1994:55) notes that material from the type collection has been distributed in Phycotheca Boreale Americana, No. 1394.
On Dictyota Binghamiana in tide pools near high water mark; leg. E. Snyder (INA).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Almost entirely epiphytic; in southern Australia on Dictyota (mainly D. diemensis) and Glossophora nigricans (Womersly 1994).
