Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Grateloupia is Grateloupia filicina (J.V.Lamouroux) C.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Polyopes tasmanicus (Womersley & J.A.Lewis) Kawaguchi & J.A.Lewis.
