Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Hypnea is Hypnea musciformis (Wulfen) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Trematocarpus concinnus (R.Brown ex Turner) De Toni.
