The type species (lectotype) of the genus Callithamnion is Callithamnion corymbosum (Smith) Lyngbye.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Antithamnion delicatulum (Harvey) De Toni.

Type locality: King George Sound, Western Australia; (Womersley 1998: 114) Lectotype: W.H. Harvey; TCD; Herb. Harvey, Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 529 (Womersley 1998: 114) Notes: Womersley (1998: 114) notes that Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 529 is being used in lieu of Trav. Set 339 which is missing.
