Type locality: La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 265). Lectotype: L. Diguet; 1894; PC Heydrich no. 11, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym) (Woelkerling 1998: 365). Notes: Part of the lectotype is now in UC (UC 790560). Isolectotype: PC, Heydrich no. 21, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym).
