Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Centroceras is Centroceras clavulatum (C.Agardh) Montagne.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Corallophila bella (Setchell & Gardner) R.E.Norris.

Type locality: Guaymas, Mexico.; (Setchell & Gardner 1924: 779) Type: Marchant (no. 85); June; Cast ashore; (Setchell & Gardner 1924: 779) Notes: Dawson (1962: 69) notes that the type specimen was cast ashore at Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico and that it is now located at the Herb. University of California, Berkeley.
