Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Scinaia is Scinaia forcellata Bivona-Bernardi.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Scinaia johnstoniae Setchell.

Type locality: Kellett Channel, between Isla Cedros and Punta San Eugenio, Baja California; (Dawson 1953: 47) Holotype: K. O. Emery; May 1945; 25-30 m depth; UC; (Dawson 1953: 47) Notes: Dawson, 1953 notes isotype is in Herbarium HAHF on sheet 8910.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), very little, very least (Stearn 1973).
