The type species (holotype) of the genus Pterocladia is Pterocladia lucida (R.Brown ex Turner) J.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pterocladiella musciformis (W.R.Taylor) G.H.Boo & K.A.Miller.
