Usually in the deeper sublittoral on rough-water coasts (Edyvane & Womersley 1994: 310).
Type locality: Busselton, Western Austalia (Edyvane & Womersley 1994: 310). Type: HBG (Hommersand, Guiry, Fredericq & Leister 1993: 118). Notes: Isotypes: L, LD. According to Edyvane & Womersley (1994: 310), the holotype, collected by Preiss, is in Herb. Sonder, MEL, 652078.
