Type locality: Rottnest Island, Western Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 509) Lectotype: Harvey; TCD, Herb. Harvey; Trav. Set No. 210 (Womersley 2003: 470) Notes: Wynne et al. (2005: 502) cite the following syntypes: Harvey's Alg. Austr. Exsicc. No 235B (three specimens on a sheet held in MICH).

Adjective (Latin), thread-like (Stearn 1973).
