The type species (holotype) of the genus Chlorosarcinopsis is Chlorosarcinopsis minor (Gerneck) Herndon.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Desmochloris halophila (Guillard, Bold & McEntee) Watanabe, Kuroda & Maiwa.

Culture in Culture Collection of Algae, Indiana Univ. "Epitype (designated here): The authentic strain CCMP 259 cryopreserved in metabolically inactive state at the Bigelow National Center for Marine Algae and Microbiota, East Boothbay, Maine, USA." (Darienko & al. 2021).
