Type locality: Ishikari Beach, Hokkaido, Japan (43 5'N,141 15'E).; (Horiguchi & Kubo 1997: 68) Holotype: Fig. 3: August 1994- November 1994; Taken from sand samples taken both near the waters edge and further upshore (25m from the waters edge at a depth of 1m; (Horiguchi & Kubo 1997: 68, 65 )

Adjective (Latin), smaller, inferior, lesser (Stearn 1973).
